A good day to not have trees
Feb. 1st, 2023 08:39
This is a screen shot of my security cam. In addition to the icicles it is also noteworthy that we don't have any tree branches on the ground. The advantage of being in a new development (where they cut down all the trees and name the streets after them) is that I don't have to worry about branches on the ground, on the roof, on the car, on the electrical and cable lines. I absolutely loved where we lived before but it would be a bad day for us today. I'd either be cleaning up or waiting for disaster. Or both. Here I can just sit and take screen shots of my security cams.

The poor roses are regretting their attempt to grow in the middle of winter. This plant is probably 20 years old. I'm hoping enough of it survives to come back this spring.
I've got PT scheduled today but I'm thinking it will be cancelled. They moved it from 10AM to 1PM so it may warm up enough. Having someone who is going to physical therapy as a result of having fallen hazard another fall by going out in the ice just to make a session might not be smart.
The only other time I fell badly was a couple of years ago during the bad snow/ice here.
I've never, never concerned myself with falling having spent my life on ski slopes and running up and down shiboard ladders. Now I think about it more frequently than I'd like. I'm now, for the first time in my life, aware of some frailty. I do rage against it. But I'm happy to not be clearing tree branches this morning.
The emergency radio is charging next to me. Our water and food supply is up to date. My Kindle is charging. We've got propane and a heater that can be used indoors. And a cooker that can be used on the patio.
Pretty sure nothing will happen now we're prepared.
I'm not going out the door.
