No lovely out the portal pictures from yesterday's plane trip.  I had a middle row seat second to last row.  A couple of years ago I bought a set of Bose noise cancelling earphones.  The purchase was worth every penny yesterday.  Two screaming babies most of the way across the row and two nice (as in they didn't constantly kick my seat.. just frequently) but noisy kids behind me.  I blissfully missed nearly all of it but for a vague, easily ignored, background noise as I listened to my book, to a movie, and to music for four hours.

We left late and I got snookered into turning over my carryon bag as one of the last groups to board as 'there will likely be no room for carryons in your group'.  Turns out there were empty spaces in the overhead so I was annoyed.  But then discovered that since I was being picked up at arrival baggage and Alaska Air has a policy of 'bags on the carousel in 20 minutes or we give [you some prize I don't remember what].  So the sum total was I didn't have to lug my bag down the whole length of the plane, muscle it into the overhead, muscle it down, carry it the length of the plane again and through the airport.  The airlines did it for me and my bag got to the carousel at the exact moment I did.  Could not have been better.  And since it was their request it cost me nothing. So weird.

All in all it worked out.  My claustrophobia did not kick in as long as I didn't look down the length of the coffin (aka plane) to see how impossible it would be for me to get out under any but the most controlled situations.  I'm really an exit row kind of guy.  Yes I CAN get the damn door open and clear a path.

But I'm back in Texas land.  Dana had some extensive dental surgery done while I was gone, 'I don't want you to have to take care of me' and it looks like she's been punched in the jaw.  She's feeling it today and is back in bed.  I neglected to take the power supply to my CPAP so I did not get much sleep last night.  Fortunately Amazon will be bringing me a replacement today so I'll catch up tonight.

Not to be left out, Toby is getting a tooth extracted today.  So he and Dana will be in bed this afternoon.

I'm scheduled to get my second booster today at HEB.  Likely won't feel anything from it and I'm healthy enough that I probably don't much need it but the cost is zero and I'm eligible so why not.

I miss being with [personal profile] susandennis and miss Seattle but we'll do it again.
