I normally try to ride an hour or more when I do go out since it takes me a bit to get things organized. But today I did a shorter circuit. I could have done more but it was just a day for getting in a bit of a ride, not pushing too hard. I've got the Dog Ranch tomorrow so that's a lot of walking.

I did some data entry on Sigtrack today and will probably do some more while I eat whatever it is I'm having for lunch. The entry is getting easier. I've got to get a lot faster for it to pay much but there's time. If I can get my accuracy where they want it (98%) then the rest will come. I'd like to have the option whenever I want to drop in and knock out a few sheets.
What I'm doing is verifying signatures. There are several states involved all the time but California is always petitioning something or other and someone has to verify that whoever has signed a legal petition is, in fact, a registered voter. And people can not write for crap. So we interpret chicken scratches into verified voters. Sometimes it is easy, sometimes impossible. They pay a few pennies for each line completed and expect a 98% accuracy. Every line is checked by two people with the second person verifying and grading the first. No interaction with anyone. It is kind of like doing the same Prolific survey over and over. Weird, I know. But at least until I get good at it the process is interesting.

So first, whatever I'm having for lunch.

I walked Zoe and Toby (who has not been getting in many miles lately) and then came back and loaded up my bicycle. I drove it over to where we used to live and parked in the empty lot. Christianity gets one thing right. The roads are empty Easter morning. A perfect riding day.

Easter ride 2022

Not quite 20 miles but I always took credit for 20. No reason to change now. I rode this circuit 4 to 6 times a week for years when we lived there. It is great. I can just let my mind wander as I know where to turn and where it is dangerous and where I need to be ready for long hills. It was very nostalgic. The weather was just right. I wore a windbreaker. The deer were out all along the way.

A few changes in the path one of which is more quarry (they are building a 'few' houses around here). I found this sign at one of them:

It struck me as a particularly sane piece of capitalism.

I was back home by 11 with pancakes (high protein version), ham, and egg and am ready now for my nap.

Dana wanted to take a nap and rather than that I decided to take a bike ride. More food for me!!

I'm planning to drive to our old place on Sunday morning. There won't be anyone there and I can park and ride my bike on my old 20 mile route. I've not done it in a while and am going to take tomorrow off so I can be rested.

And no reason to assume that will change.

It is cool and just a bit drizzly today. After Zoe and I got back from our walk I ate my Wheatabix outside with the birds. Zoe joined me. It was lovely. I decided that I needed to kill some calories so I got on the bicycle and did my usual 6 and a half miles. I felt pretty good so I slammed a package of Gu and went around again. It felt nice and I had Radio Paradise playing some of their eclectic mix of music. I ended up riding over an hour but was comfortable the whole time and enjoyed the time:

Now is time to decide about lunch.  And then dinner.  We have Dinnerly food coming tomorrow but I've had pot roast two nights in a row and am going to freeze what is left while I have something else.

Dana continues to slowly improve.  Very slowly but still.  Better.

I finished the audio book and moved on to Lynda Laplante's 'Buried'.  I've not gotten an anchor in it yet but will do so today.
I'm still Kindling Hakan Niesser's "Mind's Eye".  It is growing on me.
We finished the second season of 'Young Wallender' yesderday and watched one episode of Hammish McBeth on Acorn.  It is marginal but might be OK.

A fairly short bike ride today compared to the last one.

It's a nice day and it is good to feel like I don't have to go forever and it is still worthwhile.

Eating some tuna for a late lunch.  I love some of the Central Market (HEB's version of Whole Foods) albacore in olive oil.  Just add onion and mustard and eat it out of the bowl.  Filling and good for me.

Must be spring... oh, yeah, exactly spring. A little breezier today so some tough into the wind riding but I was just stretching my legs on a different bike. My trail bike needed to move some. It had been sitting since before my shoulder surgery in October so I took it out for a few miles around the neighborhood. Different seat so my posterior was OK with it. [image: Capture.JPG] Dana is out with her cousin today so I've got the house to myself. Good day to finish my iron frying pan seasoning. It is ready for the oven but she has a hard time breathing when the oven is on normally, not even when I'm seasoning a pan. It is an old Lodge frying pan. I've already got one but this one might get used on the outside grill to blacken some fish or something like that I don't want to do inside. Meanwhile it will just be nice to have an alternative iron skillet.

My longest ride in a while. I revisited a route I used to ride and it is still available so we'll redo this one. But not today. I listened to Beethovan's 9th during the whole ride and damn if the chorus didn't kick in at the bottom of the longest hill doing their best to help. Very nice of them. My butt is a little sore. I've not been riding enough. Couple of days off and a couple of short rides will fix it. [image: Capture.JPG]
