Dana has some relatives, some kind of cousins, that are from California and are visiting Texas. Their father was Navy and they are doing something at the Museum of the Pacific War (affectionately known as the Nimitz Museum). We visited the museum when we first got to Texas and it is very fun especially as a retired Navy kind of person that I am. But I HAVE been there. Hasn't changed much as far as I know. And the rest of the joys of Fredricksburg escape me.
It is known for its wine and I don't drink wine anymore. And don't drink much alchohol at all anymore. Otherwise it is a tourist trap of 'look at that lovely quilt' variety.
Not that I have a bad attitude about going there today. Just haven't felt the attraction. It will be interesting to do what is basically an extended lunch with a couple I've not met and know nothing about. It is something I've not done in years so, yeah, something different.
We are leaving the dogs on their own with the door open. The screened in porch has a locking door and a dog door so they can go in and out and it is a safe neighborhood. But we won't dawdle long away from them after lunch. They are our built in excuse to get back.
A little over 3 hours total in the car. Not too bad. And the day will be nice weather-wise.
