A year ago Zoe was charged and attacked by a mamma doe who obviously was protecting her fawn. Ever since then if Zoe even thinks there's a dear around she pulls up right by my side. Today we were being followed by what I suspect is the fawn from last year:

I'd take a few steps and the deer would take a few steps. I finally turned and got a good shot:

Zoe and Toby were both off leash and after Zoe's initial reaction they both cruised down the path ahead of me. "Nothing to see here".
It is nice that the deer are not so afraid of people. There is not a lot of undeveloped land around and not too many deer but this one looked healthy so there is obviously enough land for a few. I frequently see the bushes flattened in the morning where deer obviously slept the night before. Zoe always checks them out. Toby just kind of minds his own business. Not too curious.
