Cause and effect is hard to follow if you don't know the system. Water stopped running at the house on Sunday. My first thought was that it was the city. They actually sent someone on Sunday to check and we had pressure at the outside faucet. Something I should have thought to check but didn't stop to think my way through the system.

Next stop in the chain was the water softener, critical around here. I bypassed it and everything was working. Then I saw the circuit breaker had tripped so I reset it and turned the softener back on. I thought all was well but the bed room shower didn't have much pressure. The rest of the house is OK. But the master bath, farthest from the source, has almost no pressure.

I bypassed the softener again but had to use the guest bathroom to have enough pressure to take a bath and the toilet in the master bath runs extremely slowly.

The plumber is coming tomorrow and the water softener people are coming next Tuesday. The water softener is six years old exactly. Same as the house.

I'm hoping that it is something dumb that I'm missing. At least we have pressure in all BUT the master bathroom. We have kitchen, laundry, dishwasher, one bathroom with shower all working fine.

We had a leak in front of the house with the watering system last winter. When I paid for fixing it I bought an 'executive' package with the plumber. Part of that package is no cost for dispatch (normally just coming to the house is pricey) and discounted plumbing costs. They will also flush the water heater which has never been done in six years and will check for any other problems.

The Executive package was a straight up gamble of $150. Turned out to be a good one for a change.
