Outlaw, the dog that was rescued during the hurricane a couple of months ago, took what will likely be a one way trip to the vet this morning. From the description it sounds like intestinal cancer. At least he was loved at the end and cared for by the Ranch. It is what they do.

The other sad thing is the couple who were hired, the guy recently out of prison and his wife, left saying it wasn't for them. I don't know and will not ask about the whole story but it only worked out for a month or so. Very sad and, I'm sure, incredibly stressful for the woman and group that runs the Ranch. They had it all figured out and things were doing so well.

I did my job. Got there, walked the dogs.

The dogs were fine. We had fun. It wasn't too hot.

Today is plumber day. Sometime. They gave a window of 9AM to 6PM. While I understand they can't be specific it would be nice to say 'you are third in the schedule' or something like that. Fortunately we do have water in most of the house and nothing much to do. And two of us.

I've got a bunch of stuff to do that requires me to sit still and do it. Good day to wait.

At some point we both need Covid vaccines and flu vaccines. I was going to wait until the fall but I think we might be there. I'm not sure the latest vaccine is available. Actually next trip to HEB I'll stop and find out. They have easy registrations so once I'm sure they have the right one I'll get us both on the sked.

Plumbing

All $300ish [each]

My water softener blew out a bunch of resin, the beads that fill up the tank and that the water flows over to remove the minerals. No idea what happened but we had resin in the master bath shower and toilet and sinks. Sinks and shower were easy to blow out. The toilet tank internals had to be replaced.

On the up side because I had paid for the executive plan it didn't cost as much and while he was here he flushed my water heater. This is something that should be done annually. No one does it. I haven't done it in six years. But it is done now.

He quoted me a new system for a couple of thousand dollars. I've got the company that originally installed the system coming out next Tuesday so I can compare.

That will not be $300.

It started out as such a nice month too.
