A bit of baseball sadness

For those of us old enough to remember Red Barber and Joe Garagiola, baseball is black and white and when it rained and the game was postponed the announcer would just have to keep talking. I actually did sit on the back porch with my grandfather eating ice cream and watching Leo Durocher get thrown out of games.

Ridiculously American.

I heard one more voice, maybe the last of the generation of great announcers, say goodbye. So weird to have the voice of Vin Scully announce his own demise but that is what was in my head this morning.

So a small, insignificant tribute to a slice of my childhood and a slice of history.
