Last year (was it last year?) we had Covid to keep us apart guilt free during Thanksgiving and Christmas and New Years. I loved having the excuse. My interest in going to events with people dwindles with every day I get older which is, so far, every day. I love going to the Dog Ranch as I get to do some volunteer work and only have to interact with beings that make sense and don't want much more than the treats in my pockets and an occasional goat's ear. They don't need me to be witty or sage or really much more than someone with opposable thumbs able to open the door.

Dana likes groups and people and kind of misses family gatherings and kids and Christmas. Much as I'd like to see my sons and their kids, Christmas seems like the worst time to do that. Much like having a party on New Year's Eve.

Fortunately no one lives close. Dana is going to visit her aunt in Tyler, four hours away, who recently broke her hip. Aunt's daughter is setting her up from the hospital to home and then Dana is going up on the 19th to take it from there. No idea how long. It is one of those times I'm SO happy to have to babysit the dogs.

I'll be my usual curmudgeonly self totally unchecked by another human for some period of time next week.

On another front - The Kind Pool Cleaning company plods along at a snail's pace (if only snails plodded). We have a web site in the works but miles from being presentable. It will only be a landing page. One of the other partners asked if I had set up FB or Instagram or anything else. As if I was going to go down that cesspool of a rabbit hole. No idea who is doing that but not me.

The clientele we want we're not going to find on Facebook so I don't feel like we even need to put any time into it.

We are a person to person service for people who have money and are looking for someone to give it to.

Anyway that is my reasoning for staying away from any social media on this.

Other than establish the company and create part of a landing page not much else has been done.

We're having lunch today so we'll no doubt inch forward.

Four partners and one went home. How many partners do you have left?

In our case, zero.

One of our four had a long, convoluted reason to back out of the group. IMHO it was not really an honest one but one that served as an excuse for the truth, whatever that really is. He just got cold feet. His wife just left her job and he got anxious.

We're not going to do it with three. The one that dropped out was the client acquisition expert and so had not really contributed anything yet since we weren't ready for that part.

It was fun while it lasted.

We're adding up all the invoices which will work out to about $3500 and dividing by four. We'll all contribute our share and then I get some money back for the hours I put in. So it ends up costing me only time. I learned a lot.

We might take another swipe at it in six months. The company will remain since it is already paid for and costs nothing. I've already cancelled all the subscriptions.
