There is a movie site called 'Movies I haven't seen' where the guy reviews movies unencumbered by having actual first person information. There was a SNL skit on the same topic reviewing 'Bridges of Madison County' (hated it) without having seen it.
These came to mind while listening to the talking heads over the weekend. I didn't listen much but it was hard to miss. None of them. NONE of them know what the charges will be on the former president (who will here go by the name of Orange Caligula or OC) but they spent hundreds of hours commenting on every aspect and raising money to prevent and engender the process and results.
During all the noise I happened to find out that my Congressman indicated support for the OC for president. Texas, right?
I wrote my Congressman. TL:DR I indicated that the respect in which I held him for the past 20 years was gone. Not that I ever agreed with a single position he held but his values seemed intact. I occasionally told him so in various screeds indicating how wrong he was on one issue or another.
But my letter today was all about how he was not part of the OC decay in the country. It went on for a bit.
If I'm arrested, you heard it hear first.
Meanwhile, Dana's brother and his wife went back home yesterday after a successful visit. Age makes happy people cranky, kind people into curmudgeons while is softens the edges of those who spent their lives being acerbic and sarcastic. Dana's brother was one of the latter group. He still can not help with the jabs but now says thank you and it was really nice being with you, etc. In other words, he has become in his late 60's a nice human being. Life is so weird.
Pickleball end of this week. I'm signed up for what might be two or three hours of it.
Turns out that pickleball is play time for old people. After playing tennis for 40 or so years it is weird playing pickleball. They have a lot in common and in some ways have nothing. Tennis is work. It can be jubilant work and can be tragic work but it is very physical punching in the ring.
Pickleball is playtime at recess. I don't play enough. Not just pickleball but everything. Age takes away the natural instinct to play. Pickleball injects it back in.
So, an extended recess on Friday.
Probably something else going on this week but I don't much remember what it is.
