Lots of lights and pickles
Jun. 21st, 2023 18:42I'm on the invite list for pickleball now days. I've got games Friday, Saturday, Monday and Wednesday. All invites from various people. It is nice to be wanted and even nicer to be able to play without having to gather a group. All the social work done for me. Since PB is doubles it means getting together four people. Fortunately I play with about 90% women so they do the whole social bit and invites and all. I show up. Part of my attraction is that I'm good enough to be competitive at a higher lever than the groups I usually play with but I ease back on the throttle and just get the ball back if things need to be evened out. I usually win 75% or more of my matches which is nice but I'm always happy to offer help and am generous with the line calls. Benefit of the doubt. Mostly it is just recess for me. A chance to move with very little likelihood of injury.
The game Saturday is at 8AM. The rest are at 7:30. Even then it is hot and humid but at least not dangerously so.
One of the overhead lights in the kitchen went out as did one of my headlights on the Smart Car. It looks like one of the smart bulbs is about to go out in front of the house.
The house ones are no surprise. They've lasted four and a half years. I bought six of the ones in the kitchen after replacing one of them. The others will go out soon. And bought two lights for my Smart Car. Same logic. As long as I'm replacing the light I'll replace them both. The bulbs are only $28 and YouTube showed me the way to replace them. It is a little difficult to get my big paws in there but not too hard to replace the bulb.
I'm only kind of enjoying my bachelorhood. I'm too used to having another person around. I'd get used to it eventually but the dogs are bored and I don't have anyone to be annoyed with. Dana will be back next Wednesday. It will be good to have the house back to full strength and Toby will be thrilled. He's kind of down without her around.
I can hear the rumbling of thunder and it looks like we may actually get some rain this time. It usually misses us by going north at the last moment but I'm hopeful.
