I had to move my fitbit to my right wrist. Never in my life have I worn a watch on my right (dominate) wrist and it is exceedingly weird. I had to do this after burning my left wrist with my fitbit. When resting my left wrist on the desk, turned out it was resting on my charger, a flat bit of plastic with four prongs. My metal watch band crossed two of the prongs and I created a stovetop burner. The burner was around my wrist and took a few moments after having smelled the burning smell of melting plastic to get it off.

Of course, what looked like 3rd degree burns (over grown sunburn) turned into a huge blister and were really 2nd degree. I have a fast healing kind of bandage on it and a wrap to keep it protected but the watch was irritating it so I moved it. No doubt it will take months to heal, part of being my age that I find exceedingly annoying. So my fitbit is on my right wrist for a while.

I ran an experiment that will make a huge difference in our income. After having learned that, should I predecease (what a word) Dana, she will receive my full SS but not hers since mine is more. We've been putting off applying for hers figuring that waiting until she hits 70 in 3 and a half years would be more money and we can live without it until then.

But then math hit me in the head. If we start collecting now we'll be up $36K by the time she would have turned 30 and that does not account for savings gains and investment gains. It will be 10 years beyond that before we'd hit breakeven and start 'losing' money. he difference between what she gets now and what she'd get at 70 is about $300.

I'm going to run this by my T D Ameritrade financial person but I'm pretty sure we're going to take her SS now and put three or so months in savings to build that back up. Then we'll put about 70% in investments each month and put the rest in our income stream to pad it some.

I wrote all the variables down that I can think of and it is a no brainer. She just hit full retirement age so the timing is right. It will make a big difference in our financial safety and create some room for living well(er).

Now on to my gate repair project. I've got to drill holes in the gate arch today and see how to bend the stock so it can be mounted on the gate top. There was one glitch. The 'welding' epoxy did not hold on one of the two joints. The other is solid but Dana suggested bolting it and that is logical. So I'm doing that today. Not much work at once even in the relative cool garage (aka 90+ degree space).
