Enforced recovery
Nov. 20th, 2023 07:51My after market knee has been bothering me some. Translation: 7 or so on the 10 scale of pain. It doesn't hurt when I play pickleball but a search on Dr. Internet says that such playing will annoy the implant and cause pain. I'm not great at scaling back having for most of my life just pushed through (take a lap on that broken leg and it will be better). But somewhere along the line I turned 70 and I think that might make a difference.
Yesterday's pickleball was cancelled and I got up and dressed and walked Zoe only to read that todays was cancelled too. Wet weather. It is lovely but not fun when it makes the court slippery. I could probably find an indoor court and pick up a game or two but I think I'm going to take it as a sign that I not do that and give my knees a rest.
After doing nothing with it yesterday but occasionally icing it I can tell a difference. There is nothing medically I can do about it so I'll just have to be nice and rest it more frequently. I'll have to figure out the optimum amount of court play. Annoying.
In the past when I've been by myself as I am now with Dana out of town I find there are two very different roads. The one road is that of turning on the TV and watching all the stuff I can find. The other is NOT turning on the TV and reading instead. The former is candy, the latter a full meal. I've got two books on my Kindle both of which are good and dozens of those Amazon monthly freebees some of which are good so I think no TV for the moment. Maybe one or two Silent Witness.
That is all to do today. I've got Hello Fresh coming sometime so I'll get that put away. And I'll likely take Zoe on a longer walk in a bit. Listening to Connelly's Resurrection Walk. Less than three hours left on that.
Maybe change and wash sheets. Maybe wash Zoe.
