Wet doggies
Dec. 21st, 2023 11:04It was raining this morning and still a bit when I got the the Ranch. But neither rain nor whatever will keep the dogs from wanting out. We mostly keep the walks on the gravel paths and out of the mud when it is as wet as it is today. The up side is there are plenty of paths. The down side is you can't release them in the gated area as it is REALLY muddy. So no sitting down while they sniff around. So I'm tired and ready for a nap. Zoe and Toby lose out for now.
My car is way beyond need an oil change and I'm going to do that this afternoon. Nothing on the schedule and I'm making way too big of a deal about it. One of those just do it things.
Yesterday I pulled the trigger on Tiller, the finance tracking and planning app. I was doing it manually for the past couple of years as Tiller figured out their game with the help of my sister. Now we seem to have ironed out some of the glitches I'm ready to pay someone to help me import and categorize my stuff leading to a bit more of a budget and control. We need to be getting more money into savings and investment than we have been, more backup for what we will need in the future. And it has not been happening so I'll make it so. First is microscopic tracking.
One advantage of thinking my computer had a problem was taking it all apart, blowing it out, dusting all around it and on the desk and all the stuff around the desk and I feel much better now. The computer has to be happier to be able to breathe without the dust so things might hum along for a bit longer now. I've found some stuff that has collected that will go away. There is a 'stuff' magnet somewhere in this house that attracts it.
Turns out we are going to be orphans for Christmas after all. We thought that Dana's niece would be visiting but niece discovered that another of her aunts on her mom's side was in Houston getting cancer treatment for Christmas and no one else could be there. So she's going down to Houston to represent. I'll miss seeing niece as she's one of my more favorite people but we are already committed to ribs so I'll be busy. I've got the wood and bbq rub and sauce all standing by. Just need to buy ribs, probably tomorrow.
Ribs, green been casserole, grits, bread or cornbread. And a ton of leftovers. I'll probably freeze two sides of ribs. Nothing better than thawing ribs out a week or two after Christmas.
OK, time for a nap now.
