We had a great time and I'm way too tired for just having traveled a day.  Non-stop would have been so much better.  And we should have driven to the airport in Austin rather than getting driven.  It would have cost us about 40% of what we paid to be driven.  File that away.  Seemed like a good idea.

Not having a car on the Jax end worked out OK.  We ran up about a $160 tab for ride to and from airport and one ride to and from a restaurant.  A car would have cost us about $400 so that was a win.  The only downside was that there wasn't a good breakfast choice within reasonable walking distance.  So a different place to stay or bring our own pop tarts.  That would have been solvable with some planning.  We muddled through.  Other than breakfast a car would have been a liability.

Our house was fine.  Only one bathroom.  It is advertised as up to six which could be done for sleeping but NOT for anything else.  It was a nice place and a great host.

The dogs were a huge expense, $600 to have them checked on four times a day for five days but the choices of boarding were about the same and would not have been as good for them.  The woman who looked after the dogs was great.  She did a really good job.  Weirdly didn't pick up poop in the back yard but did everything else perfectly.  Children are expensive.

All in all it worked out fine.  We're definitely homebodies now and as long as Zoe is around are unlikely to travel at the same time again.  Toby could just come with us.  As long as he's near Dana he's fine and he's way more portable.

The music was not quiet as good as I expected, another indication of our getting older.  And the crowd seemed a little thinner.  The VIP section never filled up.  We may be done with the Blues fest unless we end up living there and can wander down and see it for free.

Glad to be back and happy to be bored again.

This morning was a day at the Ranch. Here is what the weather looked like. Typical spring weather.

We are in the corner of tornado watch and tornado warning. This area used to be more prone to tornados but we still get the chances. The dogs were not pleased. The larger of the two buildings is built as a shelter and has an interior space full of cages for the small dogs. They moved them all into the cages. I went from one compartment to the next trying to help calm the dogs. One who is particularly crazed in bad weather is Shadow. They gave her some Trazadone and I hung out with her until it took hold. Then she was very chill.

There were a couple of others. I ended up staying an extra hour trying to hit when the rain slacked some. It took a long time but finally one of the other volunteers left going my way in a pickup truck so I followed him and got home OK.

Shawn, the deaf pitbull, was wondering what all the back and forth was about.  He was just sitting in his compartment like he does every day.  No worries.

This was thrown up on Next Door without attribution. It may be the most Texas picture I've seen:
