A good excuse
May. 11th, 2024 10:40I'm not a fan of the Hallmark holidays. Valentines/Mother's day/ Father's Day/all the rest. Other than an opportunity to make and eat cake I don't much care about my birthday.
Dana is the reverse. She sends cards (incredibly expensive) to people for all the various days and has some expectations for herself. Fortunately over the years I've managed to dampen down these expectations to flowers (especially orchids) and breakfast. Thanks to my mom I make a pretty good Eggs Benedict. Actually I make it better than most restaurants. Hollandaise sauce is easy to make and works better in small batches.
So I'm off to the store later for Canadian bacon and extra butter. And, likely an orchid. I'd get a bunch of flowers but they jack up the prices (even in HEB) to ridiculous amounts for the weekend. Fortunately Dana appreciates that and I get her some when the prices are not inflated.
Limping with the dogs is next. It is lovely out so it will be a nice limp.
Later tonight Austin FC plays Dallas which is fun. Interstate revelry. Dallas and Houston are both fun to play. We should win this one.
That is the entire day.
Maybe watch some washer repair videos to get the ideas in my head.
And some Prolific. Turns out I've made about $250 this year. But of that about $145 was in April. I've been doing more and the rewards are better. I'm thinking at some point the tax man is going to wonder.
