Spectrum in Texas went down yesterday. No idea how badly since I get a few grudging bytes from T-Mobile through their carrier where we live. I could have gone up the road half a mile and internetted all I wanted through T-Mobile but it is hot. I didn't need to have a connection to know that.

Spectrum is coming back up but it is slow and barely there. Connecting to Gmail took several minutes. I did a ping test to Yahoo and it timed out about a third of the time. So it is going to be a while before things are stabilized. I've not tried the TV yet. This post would not send so it is actually Wednesday here now before I could send it.

I did go to the Ranch today and stayed an hour. I walked two of my friends and by then I could tell I was starting to fade. By the time I got home I was really tired and sore. But I've walked 5500 steps today so that is great. I also took two naps. I've got no endurance yet. My intent is to do another hour on Thursday, same deal, one hour then leave. Hopefully by next Tuesday I'll be able to do the full time. On Tuesday's, at least, there is a sub who will be there through the end of the month filling in for me so I'll be able to take my time getting back. Not sure about Thursdays until I test is this week.

I just did another ping test and things are still not good.

Fortunately the A/C still works with Nest unavailable.

I remember very clearly when my right hip was replaced there was a day I was feeling good and I went for a walk. And went too far. Got to where I realized I REALLY needed to return and I made it, now without considerable effort. And I was exhausted and very sore. It was when I first really understood about listening to my body.

Yesterday I stopped at the Ranch after an hour and two dogs. Got back here and mostly rested. I ended up taking two naps and was still exhausted by supper. And my hip and knee were hurting a bit more than I wanted. I finally decided to take a pain pill and I slept really well on my left side for the first night since the surgery. No idea why this has become such a big thing for me but sleeping on my side is so much more satisfying for me and last night was somewhat of a victory.

This morning I feel fine. I think I approached my maximum yesterday but didn't go over. That is perfect. Push to the edge but then accept that there is an edge and back off. That maximizes the benefit of exercise without hurting anything or making me so tired and sore that I don't want to do anything. I walked the dogs around the block this morning. Not a long walk (1800 steps or so) but a good day after lots of steps. So I'll rest more today. I've got a lunch with my networking group and that's about it. Then back to the hounds tomorrow for probably an hour.

News from the ranch - they come and go

Meanwhile, I've known for a long time that Petunia, a Great Dane, was going to be the next one to die. And she did. She was such a sweetheart:

And she had a great life at the Ranch.

Yesterday I found out that Rhonda, the woman who started the Ranch, was driving down to the Texas coast to pick up a senior dog that had ended up in a shelter after being found just above the surf on the beach after the hurricane.  Since she was a senior dog they called the Living Grace Ranch and the dog (don't even know if male or female yet) is headed to her forever home.  I'm sure I'll find out the rest on Thursday.

Such a great thing to be part of.

I just found this entry on the Living Grace Canine Ranch:

So, Outlaw is the dog that Rhonda went to get yesterday.

More to follow.
