Watching the rain
Nov. 18th, 2024 09:56It won't last long and we'll be back in the drought by tomorrow but I'm enjoying the last few minutes of a rainy day. This is what our weather looks like:
I'm used to it now but nearly all our rain comes in long fingers like this. I'm not sure why and I've never seen it anywhere I've lived before. We'll get these long north south bands of rain with sometimes a violent piece in the middle. They will sweep left to right and usually up. So the Gulf higher pressure is meeting the a weather front sweeping down from the Northwest just about where we are. It is, of course, how we end up with tornados occasionally. Fewer, I think, than there used to be. The weather patterns have changed over the years and I think tornado ally has shifted further east and north but I'm still aware.
No pickleball this AM which is good for me anyway. I played Friday morning and both Saturday and Sunday afternoons. It was a bit too much. I need a day or two off. Next schedule for me is Wednesday at 1. I'm scheduled to play with an intermediate group of people most of which I know but it is a group I've not played with before. It should be fun and I will be rested so my game should be good.
