By the skin of our teeth we've paid off the latest huge credit charge without using any IRA money and there is some left in checking. Since I pay the credit card every Friday the charges are typically not too high but we keep getting hit with big ticket items and I've barely managed to keep up. But if things have settled down now for a bit we're in the mode of not spending any money so we should be able to build back up the nearly depleted savings.

I did manage to keep the Long Term Care savings account on track. It builds up through the year and pays off in September. And I kept money in the wedding trip account, the next big ticket item we have. Son is getting married next October and it will cost us probably $3k or more between the bachelor party I'm kind of on the hook to help fund and the trip and hotel. Plus gift. I shouldn't be resentful but I really don't like big weddings. Son's finance has not been married and she wants the whole enchilada. She's doing all the planning and her family is paying a lot more than $3k. But still.

So I'm doing all I can to build up enough savings we can pay for everything in cash for October. It is going to be close.

Meanwhile it is a beautiful day here. Chilly morning and warm afternoon. Pickleball this morning was lovely. I'm scheduled to play again on Sunday and a couple of times next week. It costs me nothing but the money to wash my PB clothes. So it is a good sport for me. And the social aspect, especially the morning group, is great and good for me.
