Well, I'm exhausted
Mar. 16th, 2025 17:40Today was chicken coop day. We finished about two thirds of it. Still have to waterproof it, put on the sides, move it behind the house, roof it and put on the chicken wire around the outside. But, really the more difficult part of solving design problems is done:

To the left is the actual coop. That will have a hinged front that drops down for cleanout. and walls on the three sides. And we'll hang a egg laying box on the left. The top will be a slanted roof and it goes butted to the house. The right side is the run, wired, also with a roof. The hatch on it gives access to the door where the chickens come and go. There will be a ramp up to that. And that door will be automatic and wireless. It will open in the morning with the sun and close in the evening with the dark with phone APP over ride.
Eventually we'll probably continue the run off to the right and around the corner where we have space between house and fence. I've got to block off the street view before that happens.
All in all the buildout was fun. The guy I did it with (background of the picture) is a computer friend from when I had the business. I helped him out a lot and he's returning the favor. We worked well together with is something. He's got a lot more experience than I do so the work went quickly.
I'm in no hurry to finish this. I'm pretty sure we'll be done before we get chicks. But I've got some trim work to do on it anyway and it will be nice to have time and not be hurried.
