There's a Dylan song, Ballad of Hollis Brown.  It is more about starvation than environment but when I'm out walking the dogs in the open spaces of the Ranch where the biggest tree is a shrub I think about people in prairie shacks going crazy with the wind.  I never understood it until I moved here but a year or so after we moved to Texas we had a period of maybe two months when the wind was never below about 15 MPH.  The relentless air pressure and the sound make life miserable and we live in an environmentally contained house.  I can't imagine the alternative.

Yesterday was a dog walking day when the wind was a consistent 20 or so miles per hour gusting to 30.  One of the ultimately good things about the pickleball I play and walking the dogs is that both are outside.  Obviously that means dealing with the elements and many days that is challenging but it is good for me.

Today is another 20/30 mph day and I'm scheduled for pickleball that I will cancel out of at noon.  My top end is 15 mph wind and even that is not so enjoyable.

Looking at the wind projections it is not going to get any better for a while.  I was thinking about trying to play Sunday but that is even worse than today.   We seem to be in a long term wind pattern again.  I renewed my Ventusky weather app for a year.  It has excellent projections of all the separate elements of the weather so I can at least plan.

My day is now open.

I've got some bread dough that should be ready to bake in a couple of hours.  It is a flour, salt, yeast, water dough I'm baking for my vegan wife of the guy that is helping me build the coop.  So I'll drive out to her place and drop off bread.  I've also got some leftover wood sealer that I can put on the coop before we finish putting it together.  And I've got a few pieces to buy too.

So, no PB but lots of other little things to do.

Zero progress on getting chicks.  I went through every available hatchery online and none have anything before August.  That may be where we end up but I've got a couple of locals I'll try for a few more weeks before committing to the late summer schedule.

The coop will be ready long before the chickens.
