Minor progress today
Apr. 27th, 2025 10:24Dana and I (and her roommate at the PT place) had a fun visit yesterday. There ended up being an OT and two other nurses in the room and all six were cheery and laughing and having fun. It was good for Dana and her roommate (who is there for post heavy duty spinal realignment of some kind).
Dana is doing really well and for the first time this morning indicated her pain was receding which is a first. It happened to me each time I went through this. Pain was bad and bad and bad and one morning it just wasn't as bad and a week or so later I forgot to take any pain pills of any kind. Magic body stuff.
So she's getting there and will be home in a completely different mental and physical form. She's still got a fractured bone that will be healing for a long time, much longer than the hip but she has gotten a lot of training on how to move and a lot of excercises to move better.
My problem is I went from surgery to walker to cane in a week so I'm not much help. 20 years on a bike made a huge difference with me. So it is hard for me to tell her what to do or recommend how to do things.
Fortunately it looks like she's going to get some home OT for movement processes, how to do things without hurting herself, and PT, exercises to build back up better than she was.
My project today was to dissemble the pieces of the coop so I can paint it: And add that trim on the egg box. Having done the trim I'm not sure it needed it but no matter. It is done now and wasn't too hard. Everything gets primed then painted yellow and then I'll paint the trim, reassemble it, put on the roof and the wire and done. Piece of cake.

and

It is ready for priming now. I didn't want it next to the house for obvious reasons and I didn't want to have to be careful with the paint. So now I can just slop it on. Not today, though. It is very humid and looking a little like rainalthough the forecast isn't calling for it so I think it is just one of those rain want to be days we get a lot around here.
I'm done for the day anyway. I'm going to see Pink Floyd at Pompeii at 3 in a theater in north Austin. I saw the movie in 1981 sitting in the wardroom with my wife loading the three reels on a projector. Old school Navy. This the restored version in a big theater and I know a lot more about Pink Floyd since the Internet was created.
I'll likely swing by for a few mins with Dana on the way home.
