I got paint. And a roof (galvzanized) and a 1x2 piece of wood to finish the trim.
I was so smart when we first started building the coop I too my sprayer and my can of Thompson's Water Sealer and sprayed every piece of wood. Good news is that it will last a lot longer. Bad news is that Thompson's does not adhere to paint. It is made to kind of repel stuff. That is what it is for. Like paint.
Going to the paint section of any store usually results in me feeling dumb. It increases my empathy for my customers at the computer store.
The guy was very nice about it and never used the word dumb shit (I'd have probably felt better if he had). He said I could sand off the Thompsons. NO. Or buy a primer that would adhere to the water sealer. OK. So, one coat of paint now is two. Not much of a problem other than the money of buying a second gallon of paint. But whatever I build kind of turns into a shallow but predictable money pit.
I've got the roofing and it will look wonderful as it did on my last two houses. BUT I need one more piece, a 2 x 3 foot piece for the egg laying box that hangs off the side. I'm not sure how that is going to happen. No one sells, far as I can tell, anything smaller than an eight foot long piece of roofing.
So, we're going to have to cogitate over this one. Fortunately nothing depends on having that done. It is the last thing so I've got time and production will continue.
The coop will be a bright yellow with white trim. With primer under it.
I'm headed off to spend a bit of time with Dana. She has her OT there and wants me to come watch her take a shower. Fine with me. I'd be happy to join but she says maybe not.
