There is a wonderful facility (aka — ranch.. everything here is a ranch... even the churches are on ranches... freakin' Texas) here that takes in senior dogs. Strays. Abandoned dogs. Dogs left in the woods to die. Dogs in line to be terminated in the area shelters. They take them in. And give them a home to live until the dogs die naturally. I saw a note about it in a news article and pulled the thread.
Today I visited the place. It is in the middle of nowhere Burtrum, Texas. Half an hour from our house on back roads. But it is a lovely place. Well built, nicely painted, dogs all over the place and not a cat in sight.
The lady who runs it asked what I wanted to do there. I said, what do you need. She said we need people to come here, spend time with the dogs, and love on them.
I'm your man.
Training is Sunday.
They pair you up with a dog or two or three and you come back to that same dog every time. It is better for the dog to have a stable relationship. So I'll be hooking up with a canine senior or two on Sunday.
When can you be available?
Well, let's see what I have on my schedule............ that would be nothing.
