I realized that I had not spoken to another person for any length of time who was not my doctor or my wife in months and months.  My interactions are plentiful with my sons and sister but they are mostly text based.  So it was interesting to spend a couple of hours talking to someone I'd never met.  Fortunately they were a very nice couple of our age with whom we had a lot in common.

The woman and Dana had a lot of memory lane kind of discussions.  As second cousins they did not interact much in their lives.  They had last met about 60 years ago at a family gathering but they each had lots of stories about relations and their lives and it would have been fine if we had stayed and talked more.

But we left home at 10ish and the dogs were by themselves and no way to get outside.  We got back about 4:30 to lots of happy barks and much marking of the outside yard.  But all was well.

The drive was a PIA but only about an hour and forty minutes in very little traffic.

I was able to watch the Austin FC soccer team lose their opener to an expansion team in a game that Austin should have won.  Two goals were the responsibility of one Austin defender who has definitely had a sleepless night and probably lost his job.  I've not even looked but I'm sure the fans are relentless.

Apple refunded me the MLS access money and I was able to get free Apple MLS access through T-Mobile.  Saved me comparable to a month's worth of cell phone access.  Really a nice deal.  I get the same with MLB access too with T-Mobile.  And they don't suck any more than any of the others.

Quiet day today.  I had two beers last night and still feel the effects.  That's six total this year and I think I'm done for a while.  Weird how my chemistry has changed.  My synapses haven't yet caught up with the new reality but they are slowly doing so.

Glad you enjoyed your lunch. The last person I had lunch with I'd never met was Susan. That worked out pretty well as we had to drag ourselves away at the last minute to get to the last Underground tour. I wish Seattle was a little closer so I could visit more often.

Well, don't consider yourself safe in Texas. You never know where Kiwis are going to turn up.

:) Yes, I would love to see Austin and Texas in general. Boston and the metroplex were next on our list of places to see in the US and as luck would have it Air NZ has just started flying direct to Houston. That would be a joy as I'm far too familiar with LAX. I've had so many stopovers there I know parts of LA better than I know Auckland. I've changed planes in Houston several times but never actually escaped into the wild. The only fly in the ointment is Covid. We don't currently have any travel scheduled and I have no idea when that day might arrive. Considering travelling is my number one goal in life this is exceedingly irksome.
