I'm doing the recovery thing pretty well so far.  Got up, had some coffee, and took a walk around the block with Zoe.  I took Dana's walking stick, one of those really light aluminum ones, with me in case my balance got weird.  But it did not and has not so far.  The only reason to worry about it is that if I were to fall my healing groin and, presumably, the addition to my heart might not be happy about the event.  So I'm overly cautious which goes against my nature.  I've cancelled all pickleball until I return from Issaquah and decided to cancel my work at the Ranch next week.  So I'll go one more time before Issaquah.

I've cancelled my physical therapy for next Monday but I've got a follow up visit with my doc so I may get the all clear from there and back to normal.  Finger's crossed.  So far everything looks good.  The incision looks like crap as the subcutaneous blood bruise spreads out but it is obvious that there is no new bleeding so it is just a spreading bruise.  Seriously ugly but benign.  No weirdness in my heart or breathing or sleeping.

The hospital has a cool thing, at least it is good for me.  They send a link to a post hospital visit follow up set of questions about how I feel, asking a list of various things like heart palpitations, bleeding, breathing, all the stuff that might be wrong.  The last choice is 'None of the above' so I didn't have to answer each question.  Then they have a button that will set up a nurse to contact me if I want.  And then asked about my drugs, did I have any prescriptions after the visit I need to pick up?  Actually I did need baby aspirin so it was a good reminder.  The whole thing was non-intrusive, easy to use, good links and really accomplished what they need and what I need with minimal effort.

The hospital in general was pretty disorganized.  Outside of the operating room related operations, where the top level people work, the system was a little slack.  It is obvious that they need some better qualified people in key positions in the routine part of the hospital.  There were lots of little glitches about what medications I should be taking while there, repeated questions that should have been entered into the system the first time, and such.  Not that the people weren't trying, they were just not much up to it.  I've seen this before and am on guard for it.  The massive growth of population in this area is a primary factor in this.  The growth is outstripping all infrastructure services including hospital care.  They are building more and more hospitals adding hundreds of beds but they have to be staffed.  One of the nurses I had was really sweet, a little bit of an air head, but was also asian with a very heavy accent and wearing a mask so it was hard for everyone to understand her.  Not the best situation.

So getting out was good.  Having control back is better.

Zoe and I are going to do a bunch of round the block walks.

Take care.

Good to hear you are being careful.
It sounds like you and Dana are so lucky to have each other in you lives.

I always spend the copious waiting time in hospitals thinking about all the changes they need to make to be more efficient, which only makes it even more annoying. Good to know you're being uncharacteristically cautious.
