 Everything came out as well as it possibly could have with Dana's surgery. The fear of having to replace mechanical parts was as it turned out unfounded. She had a hematoma under the skin that he drained excised and did whatever surgeons due to hematomas but he could find nothing that indicated there was any issue beyond that. So the antibiotics did their work and it looks like she will be in much better shape than we were thinking might be. 

So I'm just kind of hanging out in her room waiting for her to be returned. Lots of relief. She will be in much better shape than if she'd had to have something replaced and so will recover much more quickly and be up and running around much sooner. 

Hanging out here for a little while longer till she comes up and then I'm sure she will be sleepy and I'll go back home and apologize once again to the dogs.

Yay, that's great news! I was wondering if Dana's fall had anything to do with the infection, as the guy I mentioned who fell down the stairs also developed an infection after that. Bacteria moving from where they were to where they shouldn't be due to the fracture, maybe?

I asked about that and he said probably but no way to know for sure.
