Every winter I chop back this rose bush. We've had it for maybe 15 years and it continues to produce teacup size roses. I love that it doesn't need much of anything to grow and be healthy. I'll probably mulch it tomorrow but other than the watering that Dana does it is self sufficient.

Today is really the first day of our spring. It may get cold again but not seriously so. Now we can only hope for extended reasonable weather.

I love that roses are so remarkably resilient. If I recall correctly, I read at one point that they were originally a desert flowering shrub.
