Yesterday I spent nearly five hours configuring my tech for my new job and feeling sorry for so many of the others who I could hear talking to support and doing it and not even having the clue that I have.
At one point I was setting up a remote phone connection with my PC through a service installed on a virtual desktop through a secure VPN portal while working with a tech using Cisco Webex and calling his cell phone. That is using maybe 10 or so different technologies at once. And it worked. First time.
That was only one piece and there were maybe 15 more similar pieces each with a 15 digit password and half with a different user name. Three different email addresses and I've got a separate computer since I kind of want to be able to contact the outside world while I'm doing this. So I've got my Surface PC behind me on a portable table.
And once all this is completed, which it is now, I've got a dozen modules of training. That sounds like a lot but I took the first three 'tests' without much looking at the training and so far have missed two questions. "True or False, one of the advantages of being a consultant is being able to change your own schedule." Can't wait to get to the part where we learn how to be nice to customers.
