Smelling the bones cooking all day the past two days really made me hungry for pot roast. So I went out today and bought a chuck roast, potatoes, carrots, thyme, and onion. All set. I added a bit of yesterday's bone broth to the mix and it has been cooking since 10:30. It is 4:30 now so maybe another two hours. It is in the crock pot so I can't look. I'm hopeful.
Dana was up all night. Her tooth surgery went fine but twice now she has pulled out stiches (they went in below her gum line to do something or other to the roots of two teeth trying to save them) so they put in heavy duty ones. She was in a lot of pain and, naturally, decided to drink it away. So she was buzzed up and awake all night with the pain. And I could not do anything about it because of the alcohol. But this morning I gave her my last Percocet and she has been sleeping all day. If this does not work the whole thing could be an even more expensive disaster. Fingers crossed.
I cooked her some turnip greens using some of the bone broth. So she has good soft food to eat tonight.
Quiet day otherwise. We get daily red flag wind advisories by phone and Alexa from the National Weather Service. Since they are daily and will likely continue for the next four or five months they are meaningless. It is hot, dry, and a little windy (15 MPH or so). And will be hot, dry, and windy until November and/or until this place turns into a desert. Welcome to climate change. Stop telling me every day. I just turned off the 'Repeat every time' switch on Alexa so maybe it won't. We'll see.
Listening to: The Stranger - Harlan Coben
Kindling: Mind's Eye - Hakan Nesser
Watching: Severence on HBO Max and Blue Murder on Britbox
