Clearly I'm getting old as is Amazon.
With infinite storage space and money there are things I'd like to get on Prime Day but since I've neither I peruse and move on. I'm sufficiently entertained and provisioned and not much tempts me there.
I wear the same clothes year in and out. The same long sleeved stuff for the couple of months of winter that I've worn for maybe 10 years now. And rotating half a dozen pair of shorts with 20 or so T-shirts the rest of the year. I buy more bicycle stuff than anything else as that wears out (when it isn't over 100 here). But I've kind of gotten the lower my footprint religion when it comes to clothes. I've never been much of a clothes horse anyway and now I'm old and not trying to impress anyone.
Not much else I want to buy.
Amazon stuff used to glitter a lot more when electronics had their day but nothing new is out, nothing enticing. Nothing I'd fear missing.
I spent the afternoon watching the 6 Jan hearings. The committee is really doing a good job. Things were worse and scarier than I realized and I was paying attention back in January. The FBI and Washington DC police intel units totally fucked up. There were red flags all over and known groups that should have already been infiltrated saying exactly what they were going to do. In any movie the army would have been stationed in the Capitol and popped up at the last moment to thwart the groups that were trying to start a civil war.
I disagree with nearly everything that Liz Cheney is politically about and think that Pence is a theocratic idiot but I will for whatever is left of my life revere them for saving the country. Pence had the opportunity to start a civil war we would likely be fighting today. And Cheney could have taken any road but the one her conscience dictated and no one would have been the wiser. But they both stepped up and showed the courage that I like to believe is core to this country.
I'd still never vote for Pence as I don't want the U.S. to be more of a theocracy than it already is but I'd vote for Cheney for president. Character over content.
