Nature is done trimming the trees around here. Today's high is around 50 and all the ice is already melted off the trees and power lines. It was tough on the power people. We were fine but lots of power outages and my drive to PT yesterday revealed just within sight of the road there were half a dozen power lines/power poles down.

Dana got a picture from the realtor that facilitated the purchase of our house showing her back yard. It looked more like a tornado than an ice storm. She lost all her trees many of which were pretty large. This is the second major ice storm I've seen. The first was in North Carolina when I was young and didn't care or know about the damage that such a beautiful event caused. This time I'm unaffected but more aware. I suspect there will be a bunch of words written about the final results and pictures on the news now that everyone can get around again. We lost one branch on a crepe myrtle out front. Disaster. So happy to not be in our old house now surrounded as it is by huge old oak trees. I'll drive by one day soon an look at the bullet we missed.

The Dog Ranch is closed to visitors and volunteers through Saturday. I think they don't want people tramping around in the mud right now. Just as well. I'm still a bit tentative with my stability and don't need complex surfaces and crazed hounds to throw me off.
I'm getting stronger each day and am in better shape than when I fell. It is just something I need to keep up that I didn't have to pay much attention to. All the muscles in the core of my body support my now injured and no doubt slowly healing vertebrae. So I need to pay attention to what I mostly took for granted most of my life.

There was a time when I did 100 sit-ups every couple of days. The Navy PT test had a goal of 100 sit-ups in 2 minutes and 67 pushups in 2 minutes. You didn't have to do them all. Satisfactory was below that. But I could not run as fast as a lot of people so my thought was to make up for it by maxing out on sit-ups and pushups. Which I did. I can now do about 10. No one cares. Doing sit-ups isn't good for your back anyway.

Warm enough soon to get back on the bike. Today is massage day.
