I did my first real pickleball group today. A dozen people divided into three courts. Play matches. Rotate. Repeat.
It was fun. I was not very good but it was my third and fourth hour ever playing pickleball so I'm ok with it. I need to watch more videos to learn more strategy. Knowing where I want to hit my next shot is half the battle. If I can get that ingrained then all I have to do is execute.
The group was people in their 60's and 70's and no one was at all serious about winning. It was good. My feet hurt and I'll be sore tomorrow. That kind of quick feet thing is something I haven't done in maybe 7 years. My top half is much heavier than it used to be and my leg muscles have dwindled as the years have gone by so the little quick steps at the net are not what they used to be. That will get better and is one of the main reasons I wanted to do this.
I've got a lesson on Friday preceded by another couple of hours of group activity so I'll be exhausted after that but will have nearly doubled my hours of pickleball.
The Fitbit that my sister got me hooked on by giving me her old one died in the middle of play. Some of the activity was recorded but the device is now a tiny brick. No matter. After years of managing to avoid getting hooked on a wrist device I'm hooked on the Fitbit Sense so if it can't be fixed I'll buy a new one. They are on sale now anyway and financed for a year at zero interest. There are enough functions I really like and use that having one of these is desirable now. I don't do any more because the watch says so but I do get credit now. It even credits my meditation. Very holistic.
Now I need to ice a few joints.
