Sunday ride
May. 21st, 2023 12:08It was a lovely morning today and I had planned on a bike ride so it was all as it should be. I drive over to where we used to live and park in that lot, always empty on a Sunday, and ride my old circuit from there. It is wonderful riding through a part of Georgetown that has not changed. The circuit is a little less than 20 miles which is plenty since I don't ride so often. It ends with two fairly long hills then a flat cool down section back home. On a sunday morning at 7 there is not much traffic. Lots of deer. A few walkers. Mostly quiet and just the music provided by Radio Paradise through my bone conducting headphones.
All in all a successful ride. I had over prepared so I had enough liquid and food to do twice what I did. But I was not tempted. The one thing you can not keep in shape any other way than riding is your ass. Time in the saddle is the only way to toughen it up. When I rode nearly every day I was fine but 20 miles is enough when I'm not in saddle shape.
Quiet for the rest of the day. Enjoying the post exercise halo. Fitbit says I'm awesome.
