We'll be singing the blues
Aug. 28th, 2023 13:21I've started making arrangements to go to the blues festival in Jacksonville Beach next spring. We have gone half a dozen times or more. We used to park our RV in a friend's side yard within walking distance of the stage. The weekend concert was run by a local music shop and was mostly free. They'd charge $10 or so per day if you wanted to be down front and bring your own chair.
Now it is $199 each for VIP passes, sponsored by a financial group, among others, and the whole thing is way more suited to a pair of Medicare recipients. The kids still go free and hang in the back.
The groups are part of a blues touring circuit of people you've never heard of and mostly I've never heard of. It is so nice to have some guy who is a nobody get up there and play his (or her) heart out sweating the blues music as it was meant to be.
The food is cholesterol city and the beach is... the beach. The ocean is walking distance from the bandshell and you can still hear the music there.
VRBO set me up with a place to stay. It is a house walking distance from the event. Park the car and not use it. If we get it (reservation requested) we'll have the whole house to ourselves. Typical beach house.
Southwest Air will get us there easy enough.
Dana talked to the across the street neighbors and we've arranged dog sitting. They have two of their own that both of ours love so it will be fun for them too. I'm thinking I'll get a living room cam so we can watch them.
I'm exhausted and that is just the planning.
