I had a pedicure today. It was lovely. My wife gave me a certificate with tip included so I only had to show up with my feet. Fortunately that was easy. No polish. But my feet really liked it and I needed it done. All the walking I do results in a lot of calluses and weird toenail issues. I'll probably do it more frequently. Vietnamese lady who emigrated at 18 (which I'm guessing was about 40 years ago). She didn't want to continue a conversation about that so I took a hint. Having picked up boat people in the 90's in the South China sea I'd of liked to have a longer talk about her experience. But she had sharp things in one hand and my toes in another.
After the pedicure I was near a Fleet Feet store and thought I'd stop in to get some new Hoka shoes. I love my Hokas and end up going through them pretty quickly. I'm on my forth pair since buying them initially maybe three years ago. I like having two pair so I can rotate them and let them dry out completely between walks. So I need a new pair. This store, in Georgetown, had a pair of what I wanted but could not find my account on the computer. They had a 'Billy' Schubert. Nope. It would not have mattered too much but I have a $30 loyalty discount on my account. The guy gave me the 'we are a franchise' run around and didn't seem particularly interested in solving the problem. So their franchise permanently lost a customer. There are two more FF's in the area both of which are much better, if harder to reach.
I'm patient. I've got time. It is annoying that the Georgetown one is no good. My guess is they will fold and then whine about how 60% of small business go out of business in the first two years or whatever that statistic is. There is a reason they go out of business. They suck at it and Darwin is relentless.
