They grabbed my money quickly last night. So now I'm done, done with the year. My new mode of operation is to funnel all oil revenue from Dana's family directly into savings from which I can pay the quarterly withholding and continue to build up savings. The oil money is in excess of what we need to pay to the IRS so there will be some build up in savings and a monthly interest payment from PayPal. It is just as good not to depend on the oil money anyway since it comes and goes in random amounts.
Today is the monthly 'brain trust' meeting with my three networking people. We eat at the same Mexican restaurant every month and take turns paying. I don't much like the restaurant. It's OK, not my favorite Mexican but they love it so no matter. I did find one thing I like, nachos with brisket . It is plenty of food with leftovers and predictably good.
So lunch and then back home.
My groin continues to heal. The bruise spreads out a bit and dissipates a bit so I think it is doing what it is supposed to do. The laparoscopic work must really do a number on the vein. I walk around fine and have worked a bit on my PT exercises but I'm careful. It's not yet been a week and they want me to be careful for 10 days. So I'm careful but increasing my activity. I think by this weekend I'll be in good shape but I'm less inclined to push it than I usually am. Listening to my body, I guess.
Today is the last day of YouTubeTV. I've got a two month pause on it. Dana says she doesn't care. Our nightly ritual of half an hour of national news, usually ABC, and half an hour of Jeopardy will change. The news is available in better ways through Haystack so it is only losing the game on a daily basis. We've got MLS soccer coming end of this month and paying for that and Apple+ does not seem so onerous having dropped a $76/month bill. Not too much more for both of those for the year. I love Slow Horses and some other Apple+ stuff so it is worth it.
I'm re-reading Shogun in advance of the series coming out on Hulu. I actually bought the book in paperback but the print was so small I couldn't really read it. So I blew some of my Google Rewards money on a PlayPlus version and I'm reading it on my Android tablet and, of course if I want to, on my phone. Not quite as good as Kindle and my tablet battery is a little old so it requires excess charging. But it was free on google since I had rewards money. My current intent is to read through the entire collection. We'll see how that goes. I enjoy having a book (ish) to read. Different from audio.
I also am reading a funny audio book. A mystery set in a modern day English village, "Murder among the Roses". I was looking for a bit more of a Marple feel. This is a bit more Grafton. But so far, so good. It is painless and not very long. I listen to books on walks and biking and riding in the car and at night. Doesn't take me long to blow through them so I'm always looking.
