Smells like turkey
Nov. 28th, 2024 11:40Dana is cooking. It is 52 outside and she has the door open. I spent the morning outside with the dogs at the ranch freezing my ass off in the 15 mph winds so I'm not quite as thrilled by having a cold house but such are the ways of sharing a residence. I've got jeans and shirt and sweatshirt on. She's wearing shorts.
The dogs were happy today. Most of them like the colder weather. The pyrenes are, of course, ecstatic. Everyone got a very early breakfast to make room for their special lunch. They are getting a turkey treat too and the ranch is hosting a group of people for lunch. I'm not going. No surprise.
I do think we are going to see Dana's brother, Mark, later. He has been bedridden for three or more years now and will remain so until he dies. He's lived longer than he should without any likelihood of things ever changing. But we're going to go and sit there and not have anything to talk about but I've been invited and so will go. We never had much to talk about when he was fairly healthy. I suck at being human.
Attending the dogs would be better for me. We have good conversations.
I forgot to send this so, addendum. Dinner:

I realized after taking this picture that I didn't have cranberry sauce. Immediately remedied. It was in the refrigerator. So the meal was complete.
And excellent. Dana cooked it and did well.
We're not taking a plate of the food to her brother. My attitude about that trip is a bit better.
I checked in with both sons and all is well with them. One had a Hungryman dinner at home. He's on call for emergency services (fire and ambulance) and not going anywhere. The other went to a restaurant. His engagement party is tomorrow so no cooking at home today.
All in all, a good Tgiving day.
