Cleaning out
Dec. 8th, 2024 14:00I scanned in a bunch of photos before putting them in the trash. I've one more container to go through, mostly crap from my office at the computer company. Nearly all of that is direct to trash. And I'm done. I just need to get the containers past Dana and to the Goodwill and I'll have the space in my current office back.
In 1970, I think, I visited both sisters at their respective colleges. It was a very cool idea by Mom and Dad. I got to see Bethany College and University of Texas. A few minor differences.
Bethany was fun. I slept on the floor at a frat house. They guys there were really nice and genuine people and tolerated a high school kid with grace. It was their homecoming weekend and was great fun. First time, and the only one, I smoked marijuana w/ my sister.
My other sister lived off campus so I stayed with her in some loft in Austin. I wish I remembered where it was but everything was very hippie then. I guess I could have run into Janis on the street. We had lunch at a vegetarian buffet place. Mostly beans and such. Everyone had those Indian leather sandals and looked the part of a college kid in Austin in the early 70's. So did I:

We went way out in the sticks to someone's parent's house and sat in a circle and meditated. I had undiagnosed ADHD so I sat in the circle and buzzed.
One of her friends was a photographer and took two pix of me. This is one of them.
In retrospect I'm pretty sure that this picture was taken within a mile or two of where I currently live, nearly 50 years later.
So it goes.
