Another rest day for me which is fine. No pickleball today. I'm playing in the morning. It is not so cold tomorrow. I'm done with playing in the cold.
For a few years now I've taken a Zyrtec in the morning and flonase in morning and frequently afternoon. The allergens are year round here. I'm sensitive to mold and that is a constant. The others come and go but there is always something in season. I don't even bother much to look. When it is cold my nose runs constantly if I'm outside. I have a pocket, two pockets really, of kleenex with me when I play pickleball. Once it warms up things are not so bad.
My thought process was that if the Zyrtec/Flonase combo was not keeping my nose from running I'll just stop taking them for maybe a week and then switch to something else. Maybe Claritin. So I stopped yesterday.
Last night I felt a cough or two. Like I had a chest cold. Nothing else, just that deep chest feeling.
It hasn't gone away. There is, of course, mold in the air. In the house I'm usually OK so two choices:
1 - I've picked up a virus. I'm pumped full of antibiotics but still vulnerable to any virus walking down the street.
2 - Turns out Zyrtec and Flonase have been protecting me and things would be worse if I weren't taking them.
I just took a hit of Flonase. We'll get back on that and see how things are by tomorrow. Whether or not I get better the trial is worth repeating. I'd still like to not have a continuously running nose.
Side note:
We went to see Dana's allergist and after reviewing CT of her sinuses and all the other tests he's convinced that her cough is from something called 'silent gerd'. It does make sense. She's had some version of acid reflux for years.
So now we're getting set up with a doc that specializes in this very thing. Apparently it is common but frequently undiagnosed.
And we're trying to get with a very low acid diet. No coffee or tea late in the day. Early dinner followed by sitting up. I've ordered a wedge pillow for her. All the stuff. None of it can hurt and it might help.
And, finally, I made some sunflower seed/oatmeal bread last night. First I've made in months and months. I've missed really good bread and this is really good bread.
