Not for free but I've finally got a line on where they are coming from. There is a local store that has everything. An old time general hardware store. I did not realize they have chicks but they get in a batch every Thursday, first come, first served. So I'm going to stop by day after tomorrow on my way back from the Ranch. The timing should be about right. And getting the chicks now should be about right. By the time they are ready for it the coop will be done.
I asked the lady at the cash register if there was a minimum requirement and she said, no. She'd happily sell me one. So there will be no problem buying three.
And they have EVERYTHING that we'll need. No Amazon. Local store. I love that so much better. They don't make anything on the chicks but I think they have a pretty good margin on meal worms.
Since I've only done it once, I've got research to do to relearn raising chicks. They have a $35 kit that has the chick water-er and grow lamp, etc. And they sell the food for chicks. And everything else. I do remember there were a few things to do that were special for the chicks but we figured it out once, we can do it again.
