Drum end soon
Mar. 24th, 2025 11:58I've had my brother printer for as long as I can remember. I had it at the business where I used it a lot and it has been in the house with me since moving here. It is way over ten years old. BW laser. And just trucks along. Today I got a message:

I saw dollar signs and just assumed that a drum would cost so much that I'd have to think about a new printer. But turns out a faux drum is only $20. Whew. Ink costs about $60 and it has been a year since I bought any so I can't much complain. Drum on order. I will actually go on printing as long as the quality is good but have a new drum standing by.
I've got a massage therapist that I have been using for three years and Dana has been using for one. She was a physical therapist in Venezuela but followed her husband here when he got a gig with Apple. The Apple thing ended and she created a massage therapist business. The license is easier to get than a PT license. Far as I can tell she has been supporting the family of four (two small kids) with the massage therapy business. Her husband has kicked around and picked up some money on the side but nothing solid or consistent. I suspect they are really tight with money.
Turns out they are also up for return to Venezuela unless/until they prove their value to the country. I know zero about how the system works but I'm guessing that husband had a temp worker green card that Apple set up and it was only a matter of time until it expired once he was no longer employed with them.
Dana and I both wrote recommendations for them to stay in the country pointing out their contributions to our quality of life and that of the community. I'm hopeful. It is the only people I know caught up in the orange soiree that is our new immigration dance. I'd be really disappointed if they were kicked. But not really surprised.
Today was the first pickleball I've played in a couple of weeks. It was really nice and a good group today. We had some great games. I'm playing Wednesday and am on the waiting list for Friday.
I'm done for the day with everything I have to do and thinking about what I want to do. As it should be.
First, definitely a shower.
