We could have gone another day.  I could have gone on Monday instead of Sunday.

Everyone is out today.  The rain stopped so lots of pent up demand all over.  Including the store.  And it seemed like everyone was cranky and in a hurry.  I was only cranky.

From the first cyclist who did not think I had stopped in the manner she would have liked as I was leaving our development and who thought she might point to the stop sign as if I had not stopped at all to the guy in the new American metal car who gunned it from 50MPH to 60MPH with as much noise as he could as he passed me, people were just obnoxious today.  And, of course, the store was packed.

The bicyclist thing was kind of funny since I've probably got 30 years more experience on a bike than she does and can tell you that in any interaction whether the car is right or the cyclist is right, it is seldom good for the cyclist.  I tend to wave and say thank you to any car who does not hit me at an intersection.  No downside to it.  They might be nice to the next cyclist.  But gesturing at a car and giving non verbal driving advice is maybe not the best use of a cycle outing.  My experience.

Anyway, I'm home and it is quiet and I don't have to do anything other than cook the wonderful steak I bought and look forward to the day tomorrow when I don't have to interact with the world unless I want to.

I also realized that Wimbledon starts in 57 days and the US Open in 120.  What a great time to not be working!

Yeah, I like to avoid grocery shopping on the weekends when I can. Though I did go yesterday around 4:30 or 5:00 PM, which is kind of a lull time so far as groceries. I was just too lazy to go on Friday and didn't need the groceries until today.

Driving to my picnic late this afternoon, I stopped at a stop sign where the other road has the right of way. Looked to my left and there was a bicyclist stopped there, waiting for me to go, even though he did not have a stop sign. I was kind of amazed, except then I realized he was probably acting out of experience. He should live a long, full life.

This is always a dicey situation. I tend to do what traffic says when I'm riding. If there is no stop sign I go. Cars expect me to and I never want to disappoint. BUT, some intersections just don't lend themselves to operating like a car. In that case I make it look like I'm adjusting something on the bike or some other reason why I'm obviously not going so they will go. Having the car ahead of me is always safest.

The big thing about riding a bike is that I've spent most of my life on a road bike being in traffic. Cars are always surrounding me so I've got a lot more experience with cars than they do with bicycles. I keep that in mind and always assume they don't see me or aren't sure what they should do so I try to make it easy for them.

Doesn't the French Open begin next week? I know it was delayed. I've begun watching the Tennis Channel often as default viewing.

And I forgot about the French. Didn't we just have that?

Yeah, it is in 20 days. Tis the season.

I've enjoyed watching the clay court tournaments this year in a way I haven't previously.
