LJ is only one of two social medias I follow and it barely qualifies as being in that category.  The other is Next Door and I only use it as a local news paper seldom going beyond the headlines.  Unfortunately I did today and nothing good came of it.

Someone posted whining about the government once again forcing us to wear masks.  That myth opened the floodgates of every cranky Q oriented neighbor in a ten mile radius ending with a short screed blasting Megan Rapinoe for being anti American and...  I stopped reading shortly there after.

In general the gist of thought by the white central Texas intellectual elite was to stop watching the fear mongering TV networks because the statistics are skewed especially since Soros and Gates bought all the testing labs and blah, blah, blah.

Having dipped my toe into the cesspool I think I'll take a shower.

It's so disappointing. I gave up nextdoor pretty quickly because instead of what I was hoping for (restaurant recommendations, notifications about stuff going on in the area, etc), it's all people griping about literally everything. Everything from 'stop feeding peanuts to squirrels because they mess up your neighbors' lawns' to 'people from the city are coming to our suburb en masse to commit crimes!' to 'if you're stupid enough to get the vaccine, you'll see within 5 years that you'll be dead or at least disabled' Sigh.

It's not just there where stupidity is rife

In England the mask mandate has been replaced by an advisory message to do the right thing and wear one to protect others. Meanwhile here in Wales the mask mandate is still in place — masks must still be worn in public places by law.

Unsurprisingly my news feed threw up a story about an angry Liverpudlian holidaying on the North Wales coast and visiting a supermarket. Having been denied access without a mask he lost his temper and was angrily shouting "But I'm from England, I don't need to wear a mask". Stupid knows no bounds.

It's disgusting! I was reading about a major city's nursing union demanding its nurses be allowed to work without being vaccinated if they choose! Uh, NO!

I have very strong feelings about this. If you're a medical professional, get vaccinated! No exemptions! You don't do it. You lose your job!

Yeah, during my time in the military vaccines were part of the deal. Early on we used to be paid in cash. At the table before the cash pay out was the Doc with your shot record. Shots distributed in line. It was very efficient and did not, apparently, kill me. I've been getting a flu shot every year since 1980.

Just get the hell over it.

Here we still have unvaccinated people working in front-line departments at the border, because the government doesn't want to look un-nice by forcing the issue. Insane and it's sheer luck an infection hasn't got into the community.
