HEB Report
Nov. 17th, 2021 14:48It is huge (102,000 sqft). And shiny. And a mile from our house.
I went with Dana and I don't shop well with others. Since I do 90% of the shopping I have my way of moving through the store and having to adjust to another's movement is disconcerting and breaks my focus.
So I've got to go back and get the full experience. Fortunately it is a mile from our house!!!
Interestingly the shelves are full. I suspect a new store has priority since they want the shelves looking good on the first day. And I suspect HEB gets what they want in Texas.
They also, predictably, have a wonderful meat section. Now days it is kind of like walking through a Mercedes new car lot. Nice to look at but look at those prices!! I once went with my then wife to buy some new dresses (she always too me to shop) and we wandered through Nieman Marcus in Dallas. Saw this lovely dress, kind of a lacy thing that would have looked amazing on her. It was maybe $400 or so (and that was in the 1980's). That is about what good prime rib costs now.
Also as predicted they have a huge single and two serving section where you can get salmon with green beans or cod with broccoli or a piece of lean steak with a bit of potato and something green. It is such a good way to buy one meal and have something different from your partner if you want. I can see each of us dropping by and picking up what we want. Lots of healthy selections ready to cook.
All in all it will be as good as expected and once I can hop on my bike will be only a few minute ride from here. Google says 6. I can beat that:
