Yesterday was Canine Ranch day.  It exhausted me.  I went to bed at 9 last night and slept 10 hours.  Two hours of walking dogs in addition to my normal day was more than I've done in a while.  Good news is that this morning I felt a lot of strength while walking Zoe so stretching and rest today.

And this is one of the inmates I got to love on yesterday:

Happy Kayla back in her crib

Happy Kayla back in her crib

Kayla is, I think, a fairly recent addition.  Don't know her back story but she has lots of energy.  We walked about a mile and only one of us got tired.  We sat down and talked for a while and then I returned her home and gave her treats.

There are half a dozen malamute-ish dogs and it is really hard for me to tell them apart.  Kayla has a completely white face all around and white inside ears.  And both eyes the same color.  And a wonderfully wet nose.

I wish there was such a place near me. I'm so happy for you, and for the dogs!

The special part of this is that the dogs are already home. They are not looking to send them to a house. So there is no pressure to adopt one. Makes it a lot better, more comfortable. And they will be there next time so I can develop a relationship with them.

She looks so happy, so know that you are helping. I love that you talk to the dogs.

Hah!! It's people I don't talk to. The dogs have a lot to say, all of it good.

And they are loved. They have full time people who are charged with doing anything and everything to make the dogs' lives better. That is the only thing this place exists for. There is no other agenda.

Wow, Kayla is absolutely stunning. I'm not surprised you got tired before she did as they're practically impossible to wear out. My friend Tasha used to own and race five huskies and says they can pull a sled all day so mere humans will never be able to keep up with them. I'm also not surprised there are several of them there as they're lovely but incredibly challenging dogs - smart but extremely destructive. Something she used to do for the breed club was interrogating prospective new owners to make sure they knew what they were getting into, because a *lot* of these dogs end up rehomed.

Yeah, pretty sure I could not tire her out but she's happy for the walk and the company.

She's beautiful. I'm glad you're able to spend time with her (and the other dogs).

That is one happy looking dog. Do they ever get adopted put, or is this where they will live forever? Kayla doesn’t look like a senior.

They don't adopt out. Some of the dogs are middle aged but were abandoned. There is no provision to have them go anywhere else. They are home.

It is a good home, at least.
