We got a little wild last night.  At least I did.  I had three beers which is two more than I'd had at one time for the entire year.  And then I topped it off with three chocolate chip cookies.  If we'd had foundations in this place they would have been shaking.

And I watched two incredibly mediocre college football games and went to bed at 9:30.  Dana had champaign and stayed up to complain more about the fire works.  There were more last night than usual, enough that I woke up at midnight.  Went to the bathroom and back to bed.

Many moons ago we used to go to the beach and watch the sunrise.  Since that beach is 13 hours or so away we stopped doing that.  But it was the only time I ever cared at all for any kind of New Years celebration.

I'll be happy to have some normality, some routine, again starting tomorrow.  Long ago I always had something going on in the future I was excited about.  A trip, or people visiting or something.  Now I want quiet and routine and look forward to the days when nothing is required of me.  This is a good time of year.

I did a financial summary yesterday and we have the same net worth now as this time last year after a year without working.  So I'm going to keep that up.  I'm pretty good at it.

It's so satisfying to look at the financial year and not find anything out of the ordinary or out of what or needs to be fixed asap. There were a couple of categories that I did not focus on one little bit - namely restaurants and groceries. This morning I compared 2020 to 2021 and both annual totals were within about $100 of each other. Wild and comforting.

I'm going to figure out how to use the Chase chart to track rather than individual charges on the spread sheet now I have a better feeling for things. Since nearly everything passes through that it makes it a bit easier.

Smart!! I just went and looked at that. Very cool. Since I really only use that card for Amazon, I only have two categories — groceries and shopping so not that good for me but still pretty informative.

Watching the sunrise at the beach sounds like a great experience, but I would also not be making a 13 hour trip for it :)

Yeah, it was a huge perk of living in Jacksonville.
