Factory reset
Feb. 4th, 2022 10:31What I'm doing today.
Both Dana and I have this rather big problem. About half the time we make or answer a call there is nothing but quiet. No one can hear us, we can't hear anyone. This continues until we restart the phone. Then everything is fine. It appears to be something in what would be RAM in a PC. No idea what it is on the phone. But rebooting clears it. For the day. Next day, same problem. On wifi, off wifi and on T-Mobile. It does not appear to be carrier or location related.
After a couple of months looking around and finding a very few others who had this problem I found someone who had done the same as me, moved their data with a cable from a Samsung phone and had the same issue. The fix is, of course, factory reset. With shaky fingers I said OK and am now watching my phone complete the set up. I'll do mine and while I remember what it is I'm doing will do Dana. Then we'll see. She also has a bunch of other problems all of which trace back to her fingers on the keyboard. Not much I can do about that.
Then we'll wait to see if it worked.

Date: 2022-02-05 01:46 (UTC)One of the great joys of the internet for me is that no matter how much of a special snowflake I might think I am, someone else has always had the exact problem I have and mostly they've worked out how to solve it. As a result I can solve most Windows problems really quickly, and Android is nearly as good. It's a cold dose of reality, however, when it comes to fixing problems with Linux. My business partner prefers it, and dealing with any problems she has with it is part of my job because she's too busy dealing with clients, but man, is it difficult compared to solving Windows problems. Most of the time Google comes up with a complete blank. You often hear about Linux that it has a really great community that will snap to and deal with any issues immediately. That's absolutely not true, and it's even more absolutely not true when you're in a specialised niche as my business partner is (using a screen reader for accessibility).
