Spring was fun while it lasted.. about two days

It was 97 (36) degrees yesterday when I went to hang with the Senior Dogs on the Ranch. Fortunately they built an overhanging shed that will house abandoned livestock in the future (donkeys and goats, etc).

For the moment it works as a shady area to take the dogs for a bit. The wind helped too. By the time I got back home I was absolutely exhausted, though. Being outside in that kind of heat with 20 MPH of wind is a bit tiring. But the puppies were happy to see me. I finally got a shot that captures, a bit, my favorite dog's spirit. Her name is Shadow and she is a sweetheart. She lives with a litter mate, Tommy. The two of they are together all day and I walk them together. Very different personalities but both are loving and if I did not have two dogs would be coming home with me.



I also walked a dog I'd not walked before. He is also a sweetheart. I'll need to work to get a better picture of him. His name is Tyson.




Today is a do nothing day.  Recuperate from yesterday.  Mail my son's birthday card today.  He turns 41 on Friday.

We've got wind warnings and fire watch warnings today.  Hopefully no one will be stupid enough to toss a cigarette out of a car around here.

When I took these pictures at about 3 is when it hit the high. And, yeah, warm.

And I would add that today it is actually very nice. Windy but nice with high temp closer to 21C.

Oh wow, quite a difference. What would you say is the cut off temp with walking the dogs?

Whatever I can bear, I suspect. The dogs live in an airconditioned environment so going out for a while won't bother them. And they need to go out for a little while no matter what. There is a low end, I know. Around freezing they told the volunteers not to come. But no discussion about high end. Yet.

What a lovely shot of Shadow! You can see how sweet she is just from the photo. Argh, though, 36 degrees and it's so early in the year. It's certainly going to be a challenge walking the dogs going forward. I can see you turning up at 4 am!

My time to walk is 2 - 4 in the afternoon. But now you say it I might talk to them about changing it. The dogs won't mind me coming in the morning instead.

Ugh ... That kind of heat so early in the year doesn't bode well for the Summer ... I'm glad you had a place to get out of the heat.

I'll be hoping there are no fires during this heat streak.

That’s a nice shelter. I like the overhang, which will give extra shade and some breeze. Those two coloured eyes always freak me out a little. I know it has nothing to do with personality, but it always looks a bit mad.
