I didn't know when I took this picture last year that Joey would not be able to get back on the table again. He was part of the original contingent at the Dog Ranch. The original 15 dogs. Back in 2020. He spent three years doing everything he could to make the volunteers happy and to grab all the treats he could grab.
Joey is the first dog at the ranch that I really got to know and care about who has died:

I got to walk him last Thursday. He was visibly slower. Dogs don't live as long as people and they seem to fade a lot faster. He was only 12 years old.
I spent a bit longer with Khalisi and the other ones I walked today.

So it goes.
